PRIVACY

Landas doesn't know who you are.

Last updated 16 August 2026

Landas has no sign-up and no profile. This page describes what the iPhone app does with your data, and separately what this website does.

The app: what leaves your iPhone

When you ask for a place, two things are sent to the Landas API: the text of your request, and a coarse location good enough to search nearby. They are used to find and rank candidate places for that one search, and are not stored afterwards.

Landas has no account system, so nothing sent to the API is tied to a name, an email address, or an advertising identifier.

The app: what stays on your iPhone

  • Recent searches — off by default, and never uploaded.
  • Your walking distance preference.
  • The places you rejected during the current session.

All of it is stored locally and cleared in one tap from the app's settings. Deleting the app deletes it too.

The app: what is never collected

  • Server-side location history.
  • Background location — Landas only ever asks for location while you are using it.
  • Advertising identifiers.
  • Anything tied to your name.

Place data

Place names, categories, opening hours, and walking times come from Google Places and Google Routes. A coarse location and your search terms are shared with Google in order to return results. Google's handling of that data is governed by its own privacy policy.

This website

The site runs no analytics, sets no cookies, and loads no third-party scripts. Fonts are served from this domain rather than a font CDN, so visiting the site does not reveal your IP address to anyone but our host.

If you enter an email address in the launch waitlist, that address is stored by our hosting provider and used for exactly one message: an announcement when Landas reaches the App Store. It is not sold, shared, or added to any other list. Ask us to delete it and we will.

Children

Landas is not directed at children under 13 and collects no information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the date at the top of this page changes with it.

A safety note

The compass points toward the place, not along a walkable route. Check crossings and traffic yourself.
